The Department of Information Services is now looking for several students who want to work primarily at Carolina Rediviva.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant at Uppsala University Library, you will help students find relevant sources for their studies to relieve the research and teaching staff. Currently, about 15 student assistants work at the library, and you will become part of an engaged and important support in the operation.

Your main tasks will be working at the information desk and the shop at Carolina Rediviva. There, you are the library's and university's face to the public and assist users with loans and information searches, among other things.

Administrative tasks such as book shelving, labeling of books, some course book administration, and other library-related tasks are also included. The work is dynamic, and heavy lifting may occur.

You will primarily work evenings and weekends as needed. There may occasionally be vacant shifts on short notice, so it is an advantage if you live in Uppsala or nearby.

Qualifications

• Be an active student at a Swedish university or college in a bachelor's or master's program with at least 50% enrollment
• Have experience from work involving service and where you have had contact with users or customers
• Have good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form

You have good teamwork skills while also being able to take initiative independently. You feel comfortable facing challenges that may arise in everyday life and have a personal calm that helps you navigate through varying tasks.

Desirable/meritorious

• Studying library and information science
• Previous experience in library work

To create continuity in the operation, we prefer that you have at least two semesters left of your studies.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary according to HF 5 chap § 12. You will be hired for each individual assignment and receive financial compensation per hour. The scope is approximately 10-30%. Start date is spring 2026. Location: Uppsala.
